I wore this brace playing recreational soccer and it did not support the knee in lateral movements and i tore some meniscus. You cannot tighten it enough to make the side bars effective. I like the comfort of the cutouts and materials.

I have a 15-yr-old daughter who plays soccer year round. She has periodically injured her left knee (MCL sprains). She gives me a hard time about wearing a knee brace until she is fully healed because of the heat and impaired mobility she feels a brace causes. On a whim I bought this in preparation of the upcoming Varsity High School season and sure enough it happened. She started wearing this brace reluctantly. For the first time- no complaints and while she does not need it at this time she has continued to wear it for match play with no complaints about "sweating" or impaired mobility. It adjusts easily and it supports the knee right where she needs it and is light-weight. I even wash it in a high efficiency front load washer and hang it to dry. It has held up very well. I am thinking of purchasing another one as a back-up.
