Don't buy it, it is quite incomplete and dissapointing     On: 2008-02-10

As you can expect, all movies are old and BW. That I could understand, but the coverage is so incomplete that it becomes a major dissapointment.
Very little to show about the 1930 cup; it seems they couldnt obtain good movies so they fill it in with photographs.
Coverage for the 1934 and 1938 cups is also poor and very little; the DVD is politically edited, and "forgot" to mention that the Italian team was whistled down for using a fascist greeting in Paris; only their good soccer regained them admiration from the French public.
The 1950 coverage is disastreous. Not even all the goals from the classic Brazil-Uruguay match that ended with the crown for Uruguay.
The 1954 and 1958 cups are the jewels in this DVD. Good coverage, plenty of soccer to watch, and a good summary.
But the coverage of 1962 is bad again; there has been only one corner kick goal in all world cups, and it was scored against one of the best goalkeepers ever, and this DVD doesnt even show it.
Thank You     On: 2006-06-13

Was going to purchase all these DVDS but thanks to the reviews I havent. My partner would have been so upset if they are as bad as you say they are. Thanks Guys!
Very poorly made     On: 2005-08-22

Obviously, people who put this together wanted to do it quickly...

A narrator with a boring voice, poorly written text and you feel no enthusiasm, no love, no excitation.. Such a pity, with a competent group that loves the game this could have been a beuatiful thing to watch... Dont waste your money!
This shouldn't even be for sale!

I think an elementary school student put this DVD together. Boring boring boring. The editing is crap, the games on screen dont correspond to the written scores on screen, the music is bad, etc.. etc.. etc... I bought the whole package toghether (Volumes 1,2,3,4), and I exchanged them all because I thought mine were just messed up. Well, I got the new ones and they were exactly the same. Unfortunately I got them from another vendor which didnt accept returns, just exchanges so Im stuck with them.
Why did I pay for this!?     On: 2004-01-30

I bought the entire collection thinking I would be very happy with it. After watching it I am very dissappointed with all of them. First the menus are very slow and dont seem to be well thought out. Thats just the begining though. Once you get past that there is very little to these videos, personally the ones that come out specifically for each event are better. This collection as a compilation falls short of what I expected. Many important players and games are left out throughout the entire collection. The comentary is boring and lazy, the same phrases are used to the point that I wanted to just mute it. Then it also seems that the producers couldnt even get all the names correct. There is for example no "Randy Cordoba" who played for the USA in 1994. He meant Marcelo Balboa, this was done for the description of the near miss bicycle kick vs Colombia. This was not the only case of getting the names wrong. I can understand difficulty with pronunciation, but come on getting the whole thing incorrect. Ridiculous. Ive seen replays of the shot of Hurst in the 1966 final which prove it never crossed the line, no it doesnt matter now but still. Youd think a big production like this would at least have better angled replays. In short dont waste your money. Like I said earlier the videos that come out specifically for each event are far better, and give you more entertainment for your money.

The legend begins in Uruguay in 1930 then moves to Europe amidst great controversy in 1934 and 1938, producing a series of memorable matches. The South Americans returned to glory and the USA defeated England in 1950. Hungary and West Germany emerged through from classic matches to reach the 1954 Final. The 17 year old Pele was introduced to the world as Brazil dominated in 1958 and introduced the 4-3-3 system to great effect as they swept through the 1962 tournament.
