My 9 year old liked the various moves displayed in the video, but he wanted to see more of the moves being used by players in games. On: 2005-04-30
A+ for content
D for presentation
This is the quintissential instructional for learning and teaching others how to move with the ball. Unlike the ever-popular Coerver series, this DVD is all about the basic skills. Theres no need to even attempt to learn any of the `fast feet" moves unless the player has mastered changing direction quickly and fluidly. The program on the disk present several cone formations on which players can practice their skills. The skills covered on this DVD are:
-change of direction with the inside of the foot
-change of direction with the outside of the foot
-dummy step with change of direction with the outside of the foot
-stepover with change of direction with the outside of the foot
-scissors with change of direction with the outside of the foot
-turn to the inside "doule change of direction" with the inside of the foot
-turn to the inside "double change of direction" with the outside of the foot
-dragback with sole of the foot, take away with instep
-dragback with sole of the foot behind the other leg
The cone drills demonstrated are extremely effective and challenging. The player will also be forced to keep the ball under very close control. The only negative things I have to say about this disk concern the production. The production is awful and inconsistent. The most of the on-screen writing is in German, however, theres an English voice over. This disk is poorly organized.
This disk is useful for both players and trainers. The players will learn the drills needed to improve their skills. The coaches will learn how to conduct a dribbling practice on a large scale. Just dont plan on giving this DVD as a present to your 12 year old, they wont be able to get through 5 minutes of this because of the bad production and little entertainment value.
Overall, this disk a must have. Im considering buying other parts of the series.
